Believing All This Is Still Tough, and Not Because It's Unusual

I know what you were thinking. I was thinking it, too.

I don't know whether to believe this. You were thinking it, right?

Michael Moore came out with an essay shortly after 45's illness was announced. If you don't believe it, nobody should blame you. The man has lied about everything else. Right? Why believe this? This is a whopper.

Why would he lie about this? Because it might be a desperate attempt to gain sympathy, and maybe turn the election around?

In his mind, maybe. But his making fun of the whole business, his defiance of the facts, as opposed to a normal person who would take necessary precautions, has given him away.

Nobody wants anybody to get sick. But now that he has, and has clearly walked into circumstances where many others have unknowingly caught the virus, it's tough to say anything other than: You had it coming.

His doctor has just come out and told everybody that he's in good spirits. It doesn't mean anything about his condition, though. Yet another diversion: Look over here.

Sorry, not buying it. He walked to the helicopter wearing a mask. Too many on the White House staff have already gotten Covid-19. No bravado anymore. No big tough guy. No more mockery of masking-up.

CNN says that he was given supplemental oxygen yesterday. 'Supplemental' means 'not getting enough.' I have supplemental Medicare insurance. It means my basics won't cover what I have to have done.

It means he's in trouble. The doctors say that the next 48 hours will be crucial. If his symptoms were mild, nothing would be crucial.

Mike Pence is still in the Naval Observatory residence. Still. That means that somebody's told him not to campaign. That means that someone's told him to stand down for a few days. He has a debate coming up on Wednesday. If it's postponed, that will be a sign that there are changes coming.

Remember: He's 74 years old. He's overweight. He's out of shape. He eats junk. He's been to the hospital for an unannounced visit not long ago. What was that? Is it contributing to his present condition?

When's the last time you think he ran anywhere? When's the last time he worked out--military school in the 1960s?

They're going to lie as long as they can. Remember: They kept the illness from the public for at least two days, but the media caught that Hope Hicks, a close advisor (again) was sick on Wednesday. Science doesn't lie

They're saying now that he could go home soon. Could. That means anything. Don't get out ahead of this. If he's still in the hospital, he's still in trouble.

For you, it means nothing different than before. So be well. Be careful. Wear a mask. With some luck, I'll see you down the road.
